Store without security cameras

I was at the store shopping and set my things and purse on some type of long counter so that I could help someone with their things and noticed my purse was moved so I opened it up to find my wallet gone,I then asked one of the store workers if I could see their security footage because my wallet was stolen and then the worker told me they don't have security cameras in the store.
